The so called arab spring like a wave of uprising against oppressive regimes changed a lot the arab world.
What about Morocco?
Seems like the media just focus on countries like Tunisia and Egypt. But in the underground revolutionary activists, especially in Rabat, use some techniques of civil resistance, involving strikes, demonstrations, and as well as the subversive use of social media. The Guerilla Cinema Collective from Rabat is a part in that youth action. The collective is rising awareness for the political repression in Morocco through critical filmmaking.
On 9th May we are happy to have Hamza and Youness, as part of the collective at the Insel Jena. At 8pm they will show two of their movies “Basta” and “My Makhzen and Me” in the garden of the Insel. Afterwards we will talk in an open discussion round about the actual political situation in Morocco, the so called arab spring, censorship and revolutionary underground movement in Morocco.
Come by, watch and discuss with us at the Insel (Inselplatz 9a, Jena).
